The Mahaprajna Buddhist Society Choir

The founder of The Mahaprajna Buddhist Society, Venerable Hou Zhong, wrote Buddhist song lyrics primarily to express his unwavering commitment in spreading the Dharma and his deep hopes for Buddhist education. Using concise lyrics, enriched by four-part harmony singing, he aims to arouse the spiritual aspiration within each of us. Through these beautiful Buddhist songs, he hopes to encourage one to deep-dive into learning Buddhism and apply the Buddha Dharma meaningfully into our daily life. Motivated by this vision, the Choir was established on 4 April 2004.

The Society is fortunate to have veteran musician Techer Zhang Fan lead the choir and later also serve as the music consultant. He also recommended Bro Lin Shengrun, a graduate of the Society’s Dharma Class, to be the conductor. Later, the Choir invited Teacher Li Xin to teach in 2008, and in 2015 invited Teacher Shi Liankui in 2015 to be the vocal instructor.

Two music albums had been produced – one in 2007 titled “Sentient Being Meets The Bodhisattva”, and the second one in 2015 titled “Blessings”.

If you love to sing, you are welcome to sign up for the choir recruitment audition. We also provide professional vocal training sessions to teach choir members how to sing beautifully.
