Nursing Home Visits
The Welfare Sub-Committee conducts regular caring visits to a nursing home with the goal of letting current students and graduate class students have an opportunity to cultivate compassion. This initiative offers them a valuable chance to experience first-hand the Buddha’s teachings on the suffering of birth, aging, illness and death, particularly the suffering of aging and illness.
Established in 2013, the volunteer team organizes visits on the first Saturday morning of every month to Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital. These caring services provide the nursing home residents comfort and companionship during the floor-to-floor visits and uplifting singing performances. Through these caring activities, mutual trust is established, fulfilling the purpose of the visits and the volunteers themselves also experience a meaningful and compassionate Buddhist practice.
